# The Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen says the DA will not support ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba for mayor. Steenhuisen has accused Mashaba of dancing to the EFF’s tune during his tenure as DA Johannesburg mayor. Steenhuisen says the party will continue talks to enable like-minded opposition parties to build a strong alternative to the ANC and the EFF. Steenhuisen announced that the party will present Mpho Phalatse as its mayoral candidate at the inaugural council meeting:
