# President Cyril Ramaphosa says the newly launched Social Employment Fund will not only create more work opportunities, but it will also be a critical driver of development and social upliftment. A total of 800-million-rand has been allocated to the fund and is expected to create around 50-thousand work opportunities. In his weekly newsletter, Ramaphosa says no less than 80-percent of the funds received needs to be spent on wages. He adds this will ensure the work supported by the fund is labour intensive, provides meaningful experience, and delivers real social value.
