Cosatu says the signing of the Public Procurement Bill into law is significant [SOUND]

# Union federation Cosatu has welcomed president Cyril Ramaphosa’s signing into law the long-awaited Public Procurement Bill, saying this lays the foundation for a single public procurement system. Public procurement accounts for a significant portion of the government’s expenditure, running into billions of rand a year. Cosatu’s spokesperson, Matthew Parks, says there has not been a single public procurement legislative framework and consequently the situation in many state institutions is open to abuse and corruption:
