Committee slams Lotteries Commission corruption and urges reform

# The Portfolio Committee on Trade, Industry and Competition has condemned widespread corruption at the National Lotteries Commission. Chairperson Mzwandile Masina has labelled it as a crime of greed. He highlighted collusion between officials, non-profits, and auditors, which undermines funding for developmental projects. Masina said there was a need for stricter application processes and accountability to prevent further misconduct. The committee acknowledged progress from law enforcement and the new Lotteries board but raised concerns about prolonged investigations.
