# The Gauteng provincial legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety says it has expressed deep concern over the sharp increase in sexual offenses that were reported at Sunnyside Police Station for the period October to December 2024. It rose by 28 counts compared to the previous year. Committee Chairperson, Bandile Masuku, says rape cases, in particular, saw a dramatic increase, with 31 cases reported compared to 11 in the previous year:
