# A civil society movement in South Africa, We are South Africans, has begun the process to seek an interdict to stop the Australian company Searcher Seismic from its planned seismic survey along the West Coast. Spokesperson Gilbert Martin says a reconnaissance permit was granted with an effective date of the 6th of December. Martin says the survey is aimed to start on 15 January, but the public can still object and they have started a petition that can be viewed on their website:
