Civic movement demands scrapping of municipal debts in Tshwane

# The Lotus Gardens, Atteridgeville and Saulsville Civic Association is calling on the incoming local government in Tshwane to scrap all outstanding municipal debts allegedly caused by billing inaccuracies. In August alone, eight-thousand-696 final demands were sent to accounts owing 1.9-billion-rand and the City of Tshwane managed to collect 458-million-rand. The civic movement’s leader, Tshepo Mahlangu, says the aggressive revenue-collection campaign known as Tshwane Ya Tima, which disconnects those in arrears from the grid, must also end.
