Over the weekend, a fire near Gillooly’s Farm tripped the Sebenza substation, affecting seven substations. City Power says thick smoke under transmission lines can cause electricity flashovers, risking network damage and human safety. Residents are urged to report fires to the Fire Department and avoid extinguishing it themselves. Preventive measures include avoiding burning refuse, disposing of flammable materials responsibly, and creating firebreaks.
