City of Joburg and City manager held in contempt after cutting business’ water supply amid bill dispute

# The City of Johannesburg and City Manager Floyd Brink were held in contempt of court for breaching an order regarding an inflated water bill dispute with a business. The City allegedly disconnected the business’ water supply in contravention of a prior ruling over the dispute dating back to 2022. Although the water was later reconnected after a ten-day interruption, the business suffered substantial setbacks. Gauteng High Court judge Leonard Twala imposed a 30-day imprisonment on Brink, suspended for a year on set conditions.
