# The City of Cape Town urged visitors to avoid Clifton beaches until further notice. A spokesperson says a humpback whale carcass of a nine-metre whale washed ashore at Clifton early this morning. Operations are currently under way to have the carcass removed. Law Enforcement officers are on site to secure the immediate area, and lifesavers at Clifton 4th Beach will advise visitors to stay out of the ocean. A large pod of humpbacks has been visiting the Atlantic seaboard since November and this is the second one to wash ashore.
