# Of the nearly 100-thousand warrants executed for unpaid traffic fines and contempt of court in the previous financial year in Cape Town, 40-thousand-321 motorists ended up behind bars. This represented an increase of 36.2-percent year-on-year. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says between July last year and June this year alone, the city’s Traffic Service executed 95-thousand-710 warrants:
