# Fire fighting crews were still at the Parliamentary complex in Cape Town this morning to damp down the buildings damaged in yesterday’s blaze. The mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says certain sections are still hot because the heat was trapped. The teams are currently ventilating buildings but the fire and smouldering are under control. Smith says the National Assembly is extensively destroyed by fire, water, heat and smoke. Teams are waiting on structural engineers and forensic investigators for a full assessment.
