The city anticipates thousands of people to flock to the beaches for New Year’s celebrations, and parents are advised to prioritise the safety of their children. Van der Ross revealed that 169 children have gone missing during the festive period. She told SABC News the department’s Identikidz programme has helped to reunite them with their parents:
