# This year the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town will again celebrate the New Year by shining a beam of light into the sky. The beam, which consists of 36 vertical searchlights, is a symbol of solidarity and hope for 2022. The chief executive officer, David Green, says traditionally the New Year was ushered in with a fireworks celebration but the Waterfront looked for a new way to celebrate the occasion. This year DJ duo DeVille, will lead the celebration with house remixes.
