# The City of Cape Town vows to continue clamping down on illegal graffiti and murals. Since May last year, up to 11-thousand-519 square metres of graffiti has been cleared. Hanover Park, Mitchells Plain and Atlantis were the areas that had the most graffiti removed. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says the Graffiti Unit has responded to public complaints about illegal graffiti, tagging, and gang slogans across the metro.
