# The City of Cape Town says the evolution of the Safety and Security Directorate’s Neighbourhood Watch Support Programme continues. Currently, there are 490 accredited neighbourhood watches in the metropole. Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says for the current financial year, just under six-million-rand is available from ward allocations and directorate budget, some of which will go towards training interventions and equipment:
