# The City of Cape Town has condemned the ongoing disposal and illegal dumping of foreign objects into the sewer network. Since October last year, the metro has spent almost one-million-rand addressing sewer-related problems in Wesbank alone. Mayoral committee member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, says the Wesbank sewer pump station has also suffered damage due to foreign objects and rubble entering the system, which have clogged inlets and damaged mechanical equipment:
