British professional cross-country runner Tom Evans has been mugged, held at knifepoint and beaten up on a Table Mountain hiking trail in Cape Town. The 31-year-old Evans was in the Mother City to train for the popular RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town next weekend. News24 reports his wedding ring, phone and watch were stolen. In a video posted on social media yesterday, Evans told his 60-thousand followers he was “gutted” that he could no longer participate in the event, wishing those in Cape Town still the “best of luck” for the days leading up to the race.
