# The ANC’s Mxolisi Kaunda has been re-elected as mayor of eThekwini in KwaZulu-Natal. He secured 113 votes while the DA’s Nicole Graham got 104 votes. There were two spoilt ballots. The DA’s provincial chairperson Dean Macpherson accused the ANC of paying people money to secure votes. He says a few small parties handed power back to the ANC in eThekwini, but at what cost to the citizens of the city:

The ANC honoured its part of the coalition deal with the Abantu Bathu Congress by getting Philani Mavundla elected as deputy mayor.
