# Amnesty International South Africa says despite urgent calls to ensure the equal distribution of Covid-19 vaccines last year, pharmaceutical companies tragically failed to rise to the challenge. More than enough vaccines were produced last year to reach the 40-percent target of global vaccination. However, over four-percent of people in low-income countries were fully vaccinated by the end of last year. The organisation’s Sibusiso Khasa says Pfizer, BioNTech, and Moderna projected revenues of up to 821-billion-rand, yet supplied less than two-percent of vaccines to low-income countries:
