# The Alliance of Citizens for Change is calling on the Western Cape government to declare a state of emergency in the Cape Flats. This follows a violent weekend across Cape Flats communities, which left at least 22 people dead and 16 critically injured. The hardest-hit areas include Mitchells Plain, Manenberg, Lavender Hill, Delft, Bonteheuwel, Elsies River, Kraaifontein and Philippi.
