# The DA says the Western Cape’s Department of Social Development community nutrition and development centres are not just tackling hunger, but also building stronger, self-reliant communities. The centres provide around 22-thousand meals a month, create 266 work opportunities, mainly for women, while offering skills training, household food gardens, and small income projects. The DA’s Wendy Kaizer-Philander praised the integrated approach, which addresses hunger while promoting self-reliance and resilience:
