# Union federation Cosatu in Gauteng has urged the Department of Community Safety to implement the repurposing of crime prevention wardens without delay. This follows the Public Protector’s findings that the wardens’ previous policing role was irregular and unlawful. The federation’s Amos Monyela praised premier Panyaza Lesufi’s plan to integrate the wardens into the Gauteng Traffic Police and Special Law Enforcement Unit, with 18 to 36 months of intensive training:
