DA warns Gauteng residents’ health at risk as air quality monitoring fails

# The DA in Gauteng has expressed concern over malfunctioning air quality monitoring stations putting residents’ health at risk. Only 13 of 31 stations are fully operational, while eight require between 500-thousand and 800-thousand-rand per quarter for repairs. The DA’s Leanne de Jager says ten stations have been dormant since 2015 as the department’s budget failures prevent timely health warnings leaving communities exposed to dangerous pollution.
